Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Okauchee Lake that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught your preferred doggy behavior. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Okauchee Lake door but you should teach them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop growling.
Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or wheelchairs. These are all items a dog can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Okauchee Lake neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Okauchee Lake home.
