Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to correct most of the sounds that come from dogs. Dogs in Abells Corners that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught your preferred doggy behavior. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Abells Corners house but you should teach them that an "okay" from you means you have the situation under control and your dog guardian can stop barking.
Another complaint we hear from pet owners is the whining at objects such as vacuum cleaners or wheelchairs. These are all things a pet can learn to live with quietly. Watching out the window and barking at your Abells Corners neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your dog from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over two hundred times better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Abells Corners home.
