How Can You Stop The Noise?

Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to control most of the sounds that come from your pet.  Dogs in Afton that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual.  It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Afton door but you should train them that an OK command from you means everything is fine and your dog guardian can stop growling.

Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as vacuum cleaners or wheelchairs. These are all items a pet can learn to live with quietly. Watching out the window and barking at your Afton neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either.  This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the from a distance.  This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.

Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing.  He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away.  He will respond with his voice.  You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
