Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to correct most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Des Plaines that bark at the noise of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Des Plaines door but you should teach them that an "okay" from you means everything is fine and your protector can stop growling.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or tractors. These are all items a dog can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Des Plaines neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your dog from inside the home. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If your dog's behavior problem is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Des Plaines home.
